New Fun

I have completed the tax course through H&R Block and have been hired at a franchise office. It has been kind of exciting learning all the wheres and what fors of the IRS. My teacher now my boss has given me a list of ten computer based learning modules which could be fun; but I have to have them all done by the 30th. They are equivalent to the training videos you watch before starting a new job like ethics and harrasment. Fun, Fun, Fun. Oh well at least I have job that will be better than the last.

Pronunciation

So I have this thing I do, I correct the way Bob pronounces some words. Such as Skint instead of Skinned. Now we did look up Skint it is a word it means broke or penniless, like "The pirate were skint broke." Not "I skint my knee."

But I wondered why it bothered me so much when he would say these things and I remembered that I had gone to speech therapy when I was under 10. Which then led to a conversation with my family that in fact Emily and Russell had problems too.

Emily would say, Aber Lincingham instead of Abraham Lincoln.

I would say, Wold instead of World, no R's

and Russell with my parents on a street corner said "Look Mom there goes a Dumb F*@#" instead of Dump Truck.

Can you spell all 50 states names?

I found this on a knitting blog and thought I'd try it. I ended up using a phone book because I can't spell fancy names of states like Massachusetts or New Hampshire. Actually I forgot about New Hampshire but I can blame it on the spelling.

I've been a slacker at writing on here but if you look at Emily's blog ( http://thechroniclesofemilymarie.blogspot.com/ lots of pictures) you will see we have been up to lots of fun and exciting things. From carving pumpkins, dressing up for Halloween (Bob did my makeup), to getting ready for our very first ever craft fair.

The craft fair ended up being lots of fun. We had signs from a friend of ours that we sold 2 of. We sold 2 hat and scarf sets, a shawl, a knitted hat, 2 silk scarves. We also had this family birthday sign that people could order, of which we sold one of. The example is mine, and I need it terribly. I forget the Boys' birthdays, we have 5 nephews.

Phantam of the Opera

On Thursday 10/24/08 Mom and Dad treated My Husband and I, Emily and themselves to a afternoon in the theater. Bob and I were very excited because it was our first "BIG" production that wasn't in Grand Junction at the Avalon, Mesa State or a High School.

Bob loved it all, the lights, the music, the acting, the idea of culture in Washington.

I wasn't that impressed. I may just be getting old but I couldn't understand a lot of the singing and I know most of the songs. I loved the technical aspects of the show, costumes, sets, and when they didn't all sing at once.

For me it also brought up a lot of memories and feelings from High School that I didn't realize I still had. I tried to inflitrate the click of thespians and got burned bad. So much so that I only did two plays, Cheaper by the Dozen and Phantom, (a non broadway version of the same story.) I even auditioned and sang in front of people. In Cheaper I was in the program and yearbook but name was spelled wrong and I always wondered why they couldn't have asked me. For Phantom I was asked to come in late and help, with no thanks or being included in the program or in the yearbook as a member of the staff.

In 2005 or 2006 Bob and I had the chance to get cheap tickets to the caberet and I didn't want to go and support the people that were so rude in high school, oddly enough there were like 5 or so in the cast. I know it is over 14 years ago now and I should just forget it. Its strange how something so beautiful can bring up memories of such bad things.
I still love the music and I will go and see more shows now that I have come to grips.

So if you get the chance go see it see the wonderful costumes and set design, here is a link for the tour. http://www.thephantomoftheopera.com/us_tour/

Evil Baboons?!?

About Graham Norton: Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of Graham. It's a chat show all about the people, the stories and the things that are closest to his heart.

The previous series included guests such as Dennis Hopper, Elle MacPherson, Dustin Hoffman, David Tennant and a wealth of other stars from stage, screen and the dark recesses of the internet.
Graham is one of the best loved presenters on British television. His chat shows So Graham Norton and V Graham Norton made him a household name and picked up nearly every award going, including four BAFTAs.

At the BBC his work has included the hit shows Strictly Dance Fever, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do, as well as three series of topical talk show The Bigger Picture on BBC1 and the two previous series of The Graham Norton Show.

On the show he says "Baboons are evil." The link is a clip from his show, about why baboons are evil.

At the end of the show Graham texts 'AQA' ('Any Question Asked') and asks 'Are Baboons evil?' A few seconds later the answer comes back.

'Yes Baboons are evil, anything that steals your windscreen wipers while waving a red bum in your face is the work of the dark side'.

Survival Guide Book

So I found one of my Dad's survival books and as I was looking through it, I noticed they left out one very important point in the self defense chapter. When you are approached by three clowns you go for the juggler first.

The BEST Medicine

For the past couple of months I have had really bad abdominal pain and have been cycling almost constantly. I've been to the doctor twice, the first one she did a pap and tested for std's. The pap was clean and I don't have Gonorrhoea or Chlamydia, which I knew already. The second visit she put me on the pill and gave me Naproxen for the pain (because Tylenol and ibuprofen don't work). Neither of these have helped yet and its been 2 1/2 weeks. I've had my schedule changed at work to 4 hour shifts and go whenever I can. But more recently I have been coming over to my parents house like every day because the BEST Medicine is PUPPIES. There is Put Put 11, Lilly 5, and Piper 6. And they make me feel much better. Emily is holding Piper (the littlest one) and Lilly (the medium one, and Put is on the back of the chair.
This is Piper hiding in the clean clothes.

Lilly

But Put is getting older and in just the last couple days she has withdrawn. She is kind of depressed and acts like she is in pain. She looks scared and we are all very sad because just last week she was running and jumping like she was a little puppy. And it feels like the begining of her end. I am thankful to know that animals have spirits and that when she goes she'll go to heaven.

Its good to make your self laugh.

Our house has three rooms. Our bedroom, the office and the clothing/ dressing room. Yesterday while we were walking in a thrift store my husband says "Sometime I would like to get a love seat or a chair for the clothing room to put shoes on."

The first picture that came to my mind was a love seat piled with our shoes, we have lots of shoes, thinking that would be kind of smelly and a weird way to store the shoes.

I realized last night about 6 hours later that He wanted to Sit on the love seat to put his shoes on, not store the shoes there.

Laughing I shared my realization with him and he just looked at me and said "that would be stupid" and I said "ya but I was going to let you do it."

I got to laugh at myself good, I'm still doing it.

Blogs by Others

About two months ago my sister was reading past blogs of her friends. This is one of the ones she shared with us. She was able to do the Boston accent and everything because she has heard this man.

Spare Change Guy
My last entry reminds me of an experience I had with a panhandler. I'm sure this man has a name, but everyone just calls him the Spare Change Guy because he stands on the corner and recites, "Do you got any spare change," slurring all the words together while hanging onto the vowels so it sounds like doooooyaaaaaagoooootaaaaaanyyyyyyspaaaarechaaaaaaange. Hence the name Spare Change Guy.

One day as I was walking into work from the subway I noticed that the people coming towards me kept glancing over their shoulders. Curious to know what they were looking at, I scanned my path and noticed a woman about 50 feet ahead of me. She was dressed is a nice blouse. Her hair was well styled, and she walked confidently in her high heel shoes. She was also wearing nylons and underwear. Yep, I said underwear, I know this because she lacked any sign of a skirt or trousers.

As she passed by the Spare Change Guy, he ran up to her shouting,"Heeeeeylaaaadyyyyylaaaadyyyyy. Whaaaaathaaaaappeeeenedtoooooyoooooourpaaaaants?"

The poor woman was mortified. She was indeed wearing a skirt, but it had somehow become completely pushed up so there was absolutely no sign of it as she walked down the street. That day the Spare Change Guy deserved mad props for simply pointing out what no one else would. All the other pedestrians figured the woman was crazy and wouldn't say anything. It is was at that moment I realized that it is true, a person could indeed walk down the streets of Boston naked and no one would stop him/her.

With in a week after my sister read this to me I was in the break room and reading a fun tabloid and found this picture.

Selma was wearing really short shorts. I was laughing and immediately took a picture and sent it to my sister.

Flowers

Outside of our apartment the grass is dying with little bits of green mostly weeds, a rose plant that is not even a foot high with one bud that someone cut off. And these lovely Crocus bloomed but since the picture have been trampled by the 20 odd children that visit our neighbors every night screaming and running and playing.

My Mom's Cushions and the Stuffing

So when my parents first moved to Moses Lake in 2004 my mom bought new couches. A big sofa, a love seat and a chair. The cushions for the backs have never worked well, they don't keep their shape and its like a bag of stuffing but not enough to give any support. So for the last 4 years we have been trying to figure out how to fix them.

This year I came up with the idea of using egg crate foam to help stabilize them. The pieces dad came home with are very thick and very firm not the blue stuff I was expect from Wal-Mart. So the cushions only needed one thickness.

So I have only done one of the cushions, but perfected way to do it so my sister and dad can finish the other 4.

While I was doing this I had a helper, Piper. She started by sitting on top of cushion then wanting to be the stuffing.

Sleeping

So Bob falls asleep really fast and I never have. I lay in bed for about 45 minutes to an hour, praying, thinking, wondering about lots of things. At about the 45 minute mark I start dozing not really asleep not awake, the Never land area.

And without warning from my sleeping husband he starts to talk in his sleep, scaring the crap out of me and then I'm awake for another half and hour at least. Sometimes he screams with his mouth shut, when its like that I wake him up. Because maybe by the time he starts dreaming aloud again I might be asleep.

My Blog became Our Blog

I've been thinking about a blog for a while, for about a year. And after reading and hearing my Sister's I decided now is as a good of time as any. I told Bob that I had created a blog and the name is Alisa and Bob and he got all excited and said "So I can write on there too?" and I said well yes we can do it together or seperatley. But since he is working I have started creating the playlist for the music player trying to combine both of our tastes. And I picked out the pretty background. :) Which is not very boyish. But I'm sure we'll come to an agreement of one month he picks and the next I do.

So now that the Bog is created I have to figure out what I'm/We are going to write about. This first one was going to be about copying my older sister, but what younger sister out there doesn't do that? She has helped me (let me copy) the site she uses, the place to get backgrounds, and where to make the playlist.

This is possibly the newest picture of us together that I know about since we have lived across the country from each other until recently. So thanks to my sister I/We now have a pretty blog!
